Ice cream anyone?

Under dramatic skies and in cold steel grey waters we did ...

... our first multiple rolls or ...

... layback skulling braces until we developed ice cream headaches and ...

... at the setting of the sun we went home to warm up.  A second Thursday evening practice was in the books.

  1. Is is just me or do my boats always look REALLY low to the water? I'm hoping it's the boats' decreased volume and not my increased volume!!!

  2. Definitely the boat Sean. You'd be able to tell if it was you when you put on your drysuit.

The low profile must really make a big difference in the wind. I'd like to build a boat with the Nordkapp bull shape but lower the bow considerably and the fore and aft decks a couple of inches. That would be an awesome kayak.

  3. Or just build a Black Pearl!! Very low volume (fwd cockpit depth of 10" vs 13" of a Nordkap LV) 18.6" x 20' = very fast. Turns on a dime. Goes through waves rather than over = fast but wet ride!! Catches surf like a SOB!!

    Practically rolls itself!!

All in all, a very fun boat. But I am a bit biased!!
