Its what you can't see

The 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is almost here. Everyone will know that Titanic struck an iceberg and went down just over two hours later.

In the most recent movie there's one scene where a chunk of ice falls on deck after the collision. Maybe a bit of Hollywood drama. The real action however was under water. 90% of an iceberg is submerged and that's where the real damage was done, where the side was ripped out of the unsinkable ship.

A few more shots from my recent paddle in the ice at Torbay emphasizes how much lies underwater and its what Edward Smith couldn't see that reached up and grabbed him.
