I was only a passenger but I do remember the captain and his mate seemed to be a little busy with the things you mentioned... and I do remember it being a fun experience. Over the past summer I have actually been toying with the idea of getting a kayak sail in the future... I am quite sure a kayak sail would be much less involved than a proper sailboat, but it may be a bit of fun nonetheless...
